So, how can you improve your patience and make puppy training more enjoyable?

First, add in perspective. To the extent that you can imagine the world from his perspective you will not only be less angry about his mistakes, but you will also be more effective in your training efforts. From a puppy's viewpoint it makes sense to pee inside (just not too close to bed), to chew on items with your scent on them (comforting, natural and can help with teething issues) and to otherwise behave like a dog.

If you imagine yourself in his shoes, needing to pee, bored and lonely while your buddy is off at work, it's not hard to see why he makes the choices he does.

Another element of patience is understanding that the situation is temporary. While indoor elimination and chewed up possessions are a problem, the truth is that with some basic training and patience, these problems will soon pass. Your puppy goes through stages of development and was blessed with his cuteness to help him last through this one!:P

Finally, it helps to understand what things can be changed and what can't. When you have a problem that can be fixed there's little need to worry about it since solutions are available. And if it can't, worrying will not help. With puppy behavior problems there's rarely a need to worry because you can resolve the problem by taking basic training steps. Provide him an appropriate place to eliminate, restrict his access to the house when you're gone, pick up your stuff, and spend a few minutes a day teaching him the house rules, as well as commands and tricks. It takes time but is doable.

So when you're frustrated with your puppy's mistakes, go easy on both of you. Visualize the world from his viewpoint, remember that this frustrating period will pass, and recognize that a solution is available so there's no need to get upset. This will help you deal patiently with the inevitable challenges of raising your puppy.

puppy whining all night

How can I stop my puppy from whining all night?

puppy whining all the time

Need help to get my puppy to stop whining all the time.:w00t:

puppy whining alone

What can I do to fix my puppy's whining whenever he's alone?

puppy whining crate

How I get my puppy to stop whining when he's in his crate?

puppy whining constantly

What can I do to stop my puppy's constant whining?

puppy whining and barking

What can be done to fix puppy whining and barking?

puppy whining at night in crate

How do you stop your puppy from whining in his crate?

puppy whining at night

How can I eliminate puppy whining at night?

puppy whining barking

Need help getting my puppy to stop whining and barking excessively.
